Relaxium Sleep Review
Relaxium Sleep is a product developed by sleep expert Dr. Eric Ciliberti. This product claims to be natural, effective, and non-habit forming. Relaxium Sleep contains 8 main ingredients with the aim of promoting relaxation and restoring natural sleep cycles. However, will these ingredients actually help and does this product contain the proper dose for someone to get a good night’s sleep?
The ingredients in Relaxium Sleep include Melatonin, GABA, Valerest, Sensoril Ashwagandha, Passionflower and Chamomile extract.
Melatonin is a natural chemical produced by the body and safe enough for young children, and is renowned for helping people get back to their natural, circadian rhythm. However, there is only 5mg included in this formula which is a bit less than we’ve seen in other sleep aid products.
GABA stands for Gamma Amino Butyric Acid. It has been shown in some studies to help encourage deep sleep.
Valerest is a proprietary blend containing Valerian Root and Hops extract. Both of these ingredients have been proven to induce a sense of calmness and reduce stress. While these are helpful and well-studied ingredients, we take issue with the use of a proprietary blend. Are all proprietary blends evil? No. There are some blends which list the amount of ingredients found within them. This is not the case here. There is 500 mg of this blend without any specific annotation of how much of each herb is found within this mixture. When herbal ingredients are researched, there is an emphasis on how much of each herb is included. Without knowing how the manufacturer made this blend, there is no way to know if this blend contains the amount of each herb that will be effective as sleep aids.
Sensoril Ashwagandha is another proprietary blend found in this formula. Ashwagandha is a crucial extract used in Ayurvedic medicine, but again, it is unclear how much Ashwagandha is actually found in this product.
Passionflower has been studied and shown to contain natural sedative properties. As a result, it is often used to help manage insomnia. In this formula, there is only 75 mg of Passionflower which is on the low side considering there are products with more than double this amount.
Chamomile is also found in this formula, but again, in a very low amount. Chamomile is known to induce sleep due to an antioxidant it contains called apigenin. Since this is such a well-known sleep aid, we were surprised there wasn’t a higher dose found in this formula.
Is Relaxium Sleep Effective?
We were happy to find plenty of reviews on this product. Mainly positive reviews, some were negative, claiming that the capsules didn’t work. However, there were enough positive reviews for us to feel confident about the effectiveness of this product. One glaring accusation that many consumers had was that while this product helped them calm down, it didn’t actually help them drift off to sleep. While inducing relaxation is important, it is only part of the work needed for an effective sleep aid. Perhaps if this product also included higher doses of its ingredients, it would be more successful to promote sleep.
Another point we always look out for is the guarantee. While we are pleased that there is a return policy, it is only viable for 30 days after purchase. That does not allow much time for consumers to see if this product works for them. In any case, it is something to be aware of before purchasing Relaxium Sleep.
Is Relaxium Sleep Safe?
In general there is no reason for this product not to be considered safe to take. The ingredients are all-natural, pure ingredients and there are no added fillers or artificial ingredients. The product is made in a cGMP facility. As with all supplements, however, we recommend consulting with your health care provider before starting any new regimen.
Additionally, sometimes GABA may cause stomach distress as well as headaches, muscle weakness and sleepiness.
Summary
We always like finding a product that is based on science and clinical research because, in our opinion, that is the most likely to be successful. There is something to be said about a company that uses researched facts to back up its product instead of random celebrities. The ingredients used in Relaxium Sleep are all researched ingredients for calming anxiety to promote good sleep.
The herbs found in the proprietary herbal blend are also extremely beneficial. Our only complaint is that we would like to know how much of each ingredient is found in this formula. It is extremely difficult for consumers to evaluate a product when the ingredient amounts are withheld from them.
Additionally, there are ingredients that are omitted in this product such as L-ornithine for stress relief and improved sleep quality.
The final issue that is important to point out is that many consumers reported that this product did not work for them. This is not surprising considering the dose of many ingredients is lower than expected. What is concerning is that consumers have only 30 days to determine whether or not this product will work as an effective sleep aid. Many times, it can take about a month before determining if a natural supplement will work with your body’s chemistry. While this is not a deal-breaker for us, it certainly gives us pause when reviewing this product.
